Upset Fan calls Mona's mother a WHAT??

We are only DAYS away from the season premier of Love & Hip Atlanta.  And many viewers and critics are NOT so HAPPY about it.  The Executive Producer and creative force behind the Love & Hip Hop franchise is being ridiculed through social media sites and has even been receiving hate mail due to her producing a show that negatively depicts African American women.

During a recent interview with New York's Hot 97 radio station, Mona was asked how she feels about the personalities and behavior of some of these grown men and women on the show and how she feels about the criticism she's been receiving.  Mona responded,

“What’s kind of annoying is the fact that there were tons of these shows before ‘Love & Hip Hop’ came along...I don’t always agree with the choices that they (the cast) make. [But] Do I try to provide them with a platform to promote, leverage, take them to where they’re trying to go? Absolutely. Do I always agree or subscribe to how they choose to get there, no. But again, I’m not here to pass judgment."

There is one comment that Mona made that I COMPLETELY agree with.  In regards to "choices," this is what the Hip Hop Mogul had to say.

"...like everything in life, those young women(young viewers) have choices. The women on the shows have choices.”

She's absolutely right!  I spoke about this before in regards to watching the DRAMA unfold in these reality shows.  Why do we watch it?  Who knows.  Everyone has their own reasons.  But regardless of what that reason is - it's still a CHOICE to sit back and watch.  If you don't like what you're watching then turn the channel...it's that simple.  It's the same thing that I do whenever sports comes on....I am not a fan so I turn the channel.  This woman should NOT be receiving HATE messages through social media or Hate mail referring to her mother as "a Crack-Whore," just because you don't like her shows.  This is what Mona shared during a recent interview with Sista2Sista magazine.  She also noted the similarities that she and fellow Executive Producer, Shaunie O'Neal face with the day to day criticism.

Mona said,

“We’ve never met....[but] We get put together all the time, like on Twitter, they’ll be like, ‘@ShaunieONeal and @MonaScottYoung, you both are ratchet.”

Call them what you may but these ladies are not just getting the checks but they're signing and providing the checks to other people who probably would not be as financially comfortable as they are now without them.  Take for one Rapper, Lil Scrappy.

If we remember, in the first season Lil Scrappy was sucking up to his daughter's mother, Erica requesting that she did not file for child support.  More than likely, his money was a little funny because let's be real...when was the last record that Lil Scrappy released?  And now, reports are saying the checks that Mona Scott-Young is providing to Lil Scrappy for doing the show - are now being garnished.  Apparently, back in 2010 Scrappy was sued by Heavy Rotation Booking Agency for $72,218.68...and they have yet to receive payments.  The amount has since accumulated to over $100,000 and the company has requested that a Georgia judge begin garnishing Lil Scrappy’s pay checks from the LHHA franchise until the debt is paid off.  Hmmmmm.

Now see...some may not agree with the premise of these reality shows but they are definitely putting food on the table.  And for some...those checks are providing a pretty big spread of food on that table.  Like, Ms Nene Leakes who is now reportedly receiving over $1 Million for this season of the RHOA making her the highest paid housewife.  But then again, a couple of seasons ago Nene told us and ex-cast member Sheree Whitfield that she was indeed..."A VERY Rich B*#!?"  #TRUE STORY.
